With the advent of the internet, the IoT devices have become the latest convergence point between hardware, communication, and information technology in all facets of life. Instead of hiring a driver to take customers from place to place, these GPS-enabled taxis will follow riders from point A to point B. In the same way that regular taxicabs use EDR technology, IoT taxi drivers will use their personal computers to make reservations, route trips, and update status. In most cases, humans will act as passengers, monitoring the vehicle's condition, traffic load, and fuel consumption. Another aspect of the IoT is RFID. Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) tags and readers can be attached to items for tracking purposes. This system is often used in retail stores. Tags can be scanned at different times to determine which item has been purchased, allowing retailers to re-stock shelves quickly. In addition, RFID tags can be used to track inventory or to provide crucial inventory information to sales representatives. The IoT is poised to change how we do business. By providing computers and communication networks with data, it is possible to eliminate many of the middlemen. Humans will then be free to interact with the devices themselves. Although some object to the idea of "super computers" or "robotoids," there is no denying that the IoT is changing the way we do business.
